Message first off, when buying it, you are going to be lucky as hell to find any sportscar 10+ years in excellent to outstanding shape with low (sub 50k) miles. And that is typically what everyone else shopping at the same time as you wants too. So be prepared to travel to get what you want, if a couple hundred bucks in airfare deters you from buying a TT, then I dont recommend buying a TT period cuz it will get that money out of you sooner or later.

Which brings me to my next point, you are going to find that the car will cost you money no matter which route you take, TT/NA whatever. I bought my '93 NA with 63k and I have spent nearly $5k on it since I bought it in Nov 2002. And I would say it was in very good shape, better than 85% of the Zs that were out there. WHen you hear people say Z32's are money pits, THEY ARE NOT EXAGGERATING. They are exactly that for so many reasons, previous owner's poor maintenace, your desire to upgrade, your desire to restore/refurbish, routine maintenence, the list seems to go on.

I personally am glad I did not purchase a TT at this point in my life. I rely on my car too much too have the luxury of garaging it for an extended period of time to do upgrades or anything that will involve more than a weekend's time for this anything-but mechanic. TT's seem to require more maintenance when bought to get them back to tip top shape than NA's. I guess it's because the turbos stress the engine and drivetrain more (and likely encourage harder driving from previous owners who may or may not maintain the car properly).

Good luck on your search and it's not your fault you hang out with ricers, we'll do our part to help you get through that affliction. Step 1 is buying a real sportscar, your Z.
